And now...Uzbekistan

Unfortunately the Tajiks only gave me a short transit visa so I had to speed through the country in a few days. From Dushanbe I took a taxi north to Khojand, a ride that took about ten and a half hours on a road just recently carved from the mountains. I spent a night there before leaving on Saturday the 24th to Uzbekistan, just before my Tajik visa expired.

I am now in Tashkent, the capital. I think I will be here in Tashkent for a few days then I will spend a little while in the Fergana Valley to the east and in some of the old silk road towns such as Khiva, Samarkand and Bukhara to the west. I will most likely be passing though Tashkent again en route from east to west or vice-versa.

I do have a long post and pictures ready, but this computer has no USB port. I'll get everything up as soon as possible.
